The AKS Approach

The AKS Capability

As highly experienced architects and engineers, AKS have complete in-house capability for the provision of all planning, design, surveying, and project management services. The AKS capability, which ensures continuity, dedication and a deep level of client understanding, is applied to every project, whether a small conversion or a multi-million pound contract.

The AKS History

 Andrews Kent Stone. 

AKS evolved from a London-based structural engineering practice, Andrews Kent Stone, which was formed in 1919 and which has been involved in Gibraltar for over 50 years. Early projects included structural design of the Both Worlds Hotel and The Haven building for the Gibraltar Government.

Due to an ever-increasing workload in Gibraltar, AKS opened a local office in 1987. Headed by partner Barry Brindle, this office initially concentrated on structural designs for projects such as the refurbishment of the Stakis International Casino and the Holiday Inn.

Growing demand saw the office broaden its expertise to offer the additional services of architectural, land and building surveying, project management and planning supervision. More recently the company has branched out into housing development, purchasing and successfully developing the former Gibraltar Regiment Officers Mess in Buena Vista Road into six houses and Thompson Cottages into three luxury houses.

Links with the UK practice have always been maintained, which allows AKS in Gibraltar to draw on the considerable support, expertise and experience of the rest of the group whenever necessary.

AKS Architects & Engineers. 

At the beginning of 2008 the company name changed to AKS Architects and Engineers and now employs fully qualified personnel in both disciplines.

AKS Management Ltd. 

In October 2011, following expressions of interest from several clients, AKS Management Ltd. was formed to provide project and construction management services.
